Update your details

You can update your personal and contact details through the Student Portal. 

What are personal and contact details?

Personal details are first/middle/last name, preferred name, date of birth, country of birth, town/city of birth and gender.

Contact details include email, mobile, home phone and postal address.

Update first name, last name, or date of birth. 

You will need one (1) form of verifiable identification to update your first name, last name, or date of birth.

How to update your first name, last name or date of birth:

• Click here or on the Update your details button below
• Agree to the terms and conditions and log in to your account
• Select Update Personal Details
• Select Update on the field you wish to change (first name, last name, or date of birth)
• Enter your new first name, last name, or DOB exactly as it appears on your form of verifiable identification 
• Select the form of verifiable identification and select Next
• Enter verifiable identification details and select Next.

Your details are now updated, and you will receive a notification advising an update has been made. 

Update both your first and last name or date of birth

If you need to change more than one personal detail that needs to be verified with identification, e.g. first name AND last name, please contact us on 1300 857 536 (inside Australia) or +61 2 6218 0994 (outside Australia).  We’re available between 8:00am and 5:00pm (ACDT), Monday to Friday (excluding national and South Australian public holidays).

Update preferred name, gender, country of birth or town/city of birth.

You do not need verifiable identification to update your preferred name, gender, country of birth or town/city of birth. You can update these details on your USI account by:

• Click here or on the Update your details button below
• Agree to the terms and conditions and log in to your account
• Select Update Personal Details
• Update your preferred name, gender, country of birth or town/city of birth then click Next.

Your details are now updated, and you will receive a notification advising an update has been made. 

Next steps.

Make sure that you also speak to your education or training provider from the past 12 months about updating your details within their records.  

If your identification cannot be verified after three failed attempts, you can lodge a help request and attach a photo of your identification for our customer service team to action. Alternatively, you can call our contact centre on 1300 857 536 (inside Australia) or +61 2 6218 0994 (outside Australia).

• Agree to the terms and conditions and log in to your account
• Select Update Contact Details
• Update the required information and click on Save.
